to Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a leader of
the Rathore clan. He flourished rapidly, propelled by the profits of opium,
sandalwood, dates and the copper trade. The city has a beautiful blue tint when
viewed from above or from afar and makes a rather ugly image. With the imposing
Mehrangarh fortress towering over the horizon, it's hard not to impress
Jodhpur. The new city is downright chaotic, but raids the narrow streets of the
old city and you will find traditional shops. If you are searching for reliable
Jodhpur
Tour Packages, you
are in the right place.
Umaid Bhavan Palace
One of
the most fascinating tourist attractions of Jodhpur is the Umaid Bhavan Palace.
Maharaja Umaid Singh built it in the 20th century. Part of the palace has now
been converted into a hotel and museum. The Umaid Bhawan Palace building stands
out for its impressive size and beautiful pink and white exterior. The palace
museum has some fantastic collections of rare watches, exotic furniture,
stuffed leopards, and cool trophies. Part of the palace is still occupied by the
royal family of Jodhpur. Never miss this place when you are coming for Jodhpur Trip
Packages.
Osian Temples
This
ancient desert city is a tribute to the glorious past of Rajasthan. The
highlights here are fifteen beautifully preserved temples. Carved in stone in
the eighth and ninth centuries, the temples of Osian are some of the most
important architectural projects in India. The oldest and most popular of the
structures is the Temple of the Sun, which has one of the best built portals
you will ever see.
Jaswant Thada Mausoleum
Jaswant
Thada mausoleum is located to the left of Fort Mehrangarh. This beautiful
monument is built in finely carved marble. The plates are thin and highly
polished and emit a warm glow when the sun's rays hit them in the morning and
afternoon. The gardens also include exquisitely sculpted gazebos, a beautiful
multi-level garden and a pond. To visit the mausoleum, you have to go through
some rocky mounds that give a mystical aura to the whole visit.
Mandore Gardens
Mandore was the ancient capital of the formidable kingdom
of Marwar. In the Mandore Gardens you will find the cenotaph reflections of the
ancient rulers of Jodhpur. The stunning cenotaphs of the Mandore Gardens sit
amidst the rolling greenery of a well-tended rock garden. There is a room of
heroes, dedicated to various Rajput deities and heroes of popular folklore,
whose statues are carved in the rock and painted in bright colors. As you climb
the hill, you will find the relics of Mandore, including its ancient palace.
The cenotaphs of the queens stop at a rocky outcrop and are a ten minute walk
up the hill. This attraction is visited by thousands of visitors every month on
their Jodhpur Journey
Packages and is definitely a haven for photographers
with a love of historic design.
